Commission builds social media presence
Published 4 February 2015
The New Zealand Walking Access Commission is encouraging New Zealanders to share outdoor images from Waitangi weekend on the Commission's Facebook and Twitter pages.
Chief Executive Mark Neeson said that as well as being an easy initial point of contact for people needing access advice, the Commission's social media pages were also a forum for people keen to share photos and stories about the outdoors and what makes it special.
“The Commission invites Kiwis to engage online through social media. Not only does this enable us to share information and helpful tools, but it also allows members of the public to communicate with us and other likeminded people in a more accessible way."
Since November, the Commission's social media posts have included articles about outdoor access, information about walking access opportunities around New Zealand, and helpful information and advice on rights and responsibilities when accessing the outdoors.
