Tunnel Beach Walkway

  • Walking

Tunnel Beach Walkway provides access to Tunnel Beach on the cliff-lined, rocky coastline south of Dunedin.

The walkway rewards visitors with breathtaking views of the southern ocean as it descends to the beach from a carpark at the end of Green Island Bush Road.

Tunnel Beach Walkway is named after a small hand-carved tunnel and steps that can be found at the beach end of the walkway.

The tunnel was carved in the 1870s to provide access to the sheltered beach at the base of the cliffs.

Conditions:

No dogs. Don't leave valuables in your car as break-ins have occurred in the area.
