Trail development workshop coming up in Hamilton

Councils, community groups and outdoor organisations are getting together to share knowledge and best practice on the development of trails in the central and upper North Island, and to start mapping these for a comprehensive overview.

The trail building workshop will take place on 29 November at Claudelands Arena in Hamilton.

The event is being organised by the New Zealand Walking Access Commission and the New Zealand Recreation Association for leaders of groups involved in developing trails between Taupo and north Auckland, and into the Bay of Plenty.

NZWAC chief executive Eric Pyle said participants would have an opportunity to hear from and network with other groups developing trails in the central-upper North Island.

“The idea is to build a strong community of leaders involved in trail development and management. The more information is shared, the better for walking access in the area.â€
