New mobile WAMS corrects performance issues

A new mobile version of the Walking Access Mapping System has been released to improve performance for users on modern smartphones and tablets.

The latest version, which is now the default for people visiting www.wams.org.nz on mobile devices, ensures people using smartphones and tablets running the latest operating systems can effectively view land throughout the country that is legally accessible on foot.

New Zealand Walking Access Commission Chief Executive Mark Neeson said recent advances in mobile technology had changed the way some more recent touchscreen devices functioned.

As a result of updates to mobile operating systems, browsing the old mobile version of the mapping system had become difficult or unresponsive for some users, he said.

“The release of this newer version is a cost-effective solution that will enable mobile users to continue using the system to find publicly accessible land throughout New Zealand.â€
