Top Outdoor Spot Competition
Henry , Year 3
I walk through the wetland,
Pukekos strut through the bush.
Through the bird hide,
the piwakawaka chirp madly
like rappers beatboxing.
Wet ground squelches under my feet,
mud sticks to my gumboots.
Climbing to the top of the lookout tower,
I can see the wetland below,
green, leafy, pohutukawa.
I get the Kiwi Guardians medal,
wooden with pictures of the residential grounds
an achievement for a true explorer
