The Bridle Path

Mia , Year 7

The New Zealand sun cooks my skin.
The brittle rocks crush to powder
under my grippy shoes.
The hard climb to the top
leaves my legs feeling like jelly.
The beautiful view of
Lyttelton Harbour
makes me grin.
The bright blue water
sparkles in the horizon.
I think of the time many years ago
when the Early European settlers
journeyed on the very path
where lots of people now walk,
every single day.
