
Top Outdoor Spot 2020
The Walking Access Commission Ara Hīkoi Aotearoa Top Outdoor Spot 2020 competition promotes access to the outdoors.
The competition ran during terms 1 and 2 of 2020. School students sent in photos, artworks and/or poems and stories of their favourite outdoor spot. We will announce the winners soon.
The top three entries in each category will win a prize pack for themselves and/or their school. The three categories are:
- Best photo
- Best art, and
- Best writing
Any student enrolled in a New Zealand school was eligible to win the Top Outdoor Spot competition. While this competition was targeted at years 4-8, teachers could encourage younger or older students to take part.
Background about the Top Outdoor Spot Competition
Prizes
Prizes for this year’s Top Outdoor Spot Competition come from the generous support we get from prize sponsors Kiwi Camping, Skellerup and Potton & Burton.
FIRST PRIZE for each category is, from Kiwi Camping: an event chair, a Koru Kids sleeping bag, emergency poncho, Dynamo LED torch, Kubb game, towelling hat, and bird stickers. And from Skellerup: Red Band gumboots.
The school of the winning student also receives a copy of Nature Heroes, by Gillian Candler and published by and Potton & Burton, and a $300 voucher for a school day trip to a nearby outdoor walk or trail plus trip advice from a local Walking Access Commission Regional Field Advisor.
SECOND PRIZE for each category is, from Kiwi Camping: an event chair, emergency poncho, Kubb game, towelling hat and bird stickers.
THIRD PRIZE for each category is, from Kiwi Camping: an event chair, emergency poncho, towelling hat and bird stickers.
