Changes afoot on Both Sides of the Fence

A new-look home page, improved image gallery and more comprehensive teaching materials are among major upgrades being introduced on the Commission's Both Sides of the Fence education website in July.

Launched in November 2012, the site includes an eBook, animated cartoon scenarios and a student image gallery to help teachers introduce primary and intermediate school students to responsible behaviour in the outdoors and the value of access to the Kiwi way of life.

Commission Chief Executive Mark Neeson said the upgrade would introduce new teaching materials, including activities for junior students in years 1-3, and a change to the site's layout to present the engaging cartoon scenarios up-front on the home page.

The popular In My Region image gallery would also be improved to make it easier for students to submit photos and descriptions and to view contributions from other students by region, he said.
“We have been impressed with how students and teachers have engaged with the site and these changes will make it more user friendly and encourage them to keep coming back.â€
