Culling Walkway – Pohangina River Access
The Culling Walkway – Pohangina River Access can be found at the village of Pohangina, north of Ashhurst at the southern end of the Ruahine Ranges.
This walkway provides access, particularly for the Pohangina Village community, to the Pohangina River.
Leading to a stable area of the Pohangina River traditionally used as a picnic area in the Edwardian times, the walkway leads through private farmland and ends at the boundary of the private land and the adjoining unformed legal road. The route then continues over the unformed legal road to the river.
The entrance to the walkway is located on Pohangina Road - just west of 1348A Pohangina Road.
Conditions and closures
Because this walkway crosses private farmland, dogs and horses are not allowed. Carrying a firearm is also prohibited.
